As a 580-series Ranch Rifle, this Mini-14 has the updated receiver marked "RUGER RANCH RIFLE 5.56 NATO" with integral Ruger scope-ring bases. It was produced in 2013 in Newport, New Hampshire, USA, and carries the 582 serial prefix associated with this series.
The rifle operates via a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston with a rotating bolt and a right-side operating rod. The barrel measures 18.5 inches, uses a standard profile, and has a plain, non-threaded crown with no muzzle device. The factory iron sights include a wing-protected front post and an adjustable aperture (ghost-ring) rear for a clear sight picture.
The hardwood stock has a satin/semi-gloss finish with a straight comb and semi-pistol grip. It is fitted with a Ruger-logo rubber buttpad and front and rear sling swivels. Length of pull is 13.5 inches, providing a comfortable and consistent shoulder fit.
The rifle wears a matte blued black finish on the steel receiver and barrel. The top handguard is a vented polymer heat shield; it is cracked and broken on the charging handle side, as noted, while the bore remains bright and clean. One 5-round steel Ruger Mini-14 magazine is included.
