The Security-9 uses Ruger’s Secure Action internal-hammer system with a single-action-style break and positive reset. Safety features include a manual thumb safety, trigger safety, and a magazine disconnect, providing multiple layers of mechanical safeguards built into the design.
Its precision-machined aluminum chassis incorporates full-length rails, paired with a glass-filled nylon frame finished in black for durability and reduced weight. The receiver is aluminum with a hard-coat anodized finish, and the slide is through-hardened alloy steel with a black oxide finish for wear resistance.
Controls and slide geometry support confident handling: front and rear cocking serrations, an external extractor, and a through-slot ejection port. The magazine release is on the left side. An integral 3-slot Picatinny-style accessory rail on the dust cover allows easy mounting of compatible lights or similar accessories.
Sight picture is straightforward and easy to acquire, with a fixed white-dot front sight and a drift-adjustable rear sight with a white outline.
