It features a blued finish, a ribbed corn-cob wood forend, and an uncheckered hardwood pistol-grip stock with a 14-inch length of pull. The barrel is rollmarked with the original Savage Arms Westfield, MA markings and the receiver ejects to the right.

The 28-inch plain barrel is set up with a single front bead and no rib, giving a clean sighting plane. It is fixed with a Modified choke (Mod choke) and is chambered for both 2.75 inch and 3 inch shells, offering flexibility for a range of 20 gauge loads.
Operation is pump-action with right-side ejection and a tubular magazine noted at 2+1 capacity. A tang-mounted sliding safety provides intuitive control from the shooting hand.
