This Springfield Armory EMP 4 pairs the EMP short-action 1911 design tailored to 9mm with a 4 inch match-grade bull barrel and a Concealed Carry Contour frame. It features a forged stainless steel slide finished in OD Green, a forged aluminum-alloy frame in Flat Dark Earth, and practical carry upgrades including fiber-optic front sighting, Posi-Lock grip texturing, and a flat-wire recoil system. It comes with three 10-round EMP-marked magazines and both IWB and OWB Kydex holsters.

The EMP 4 uses Springfield Armory's short-action 1911 architecture engineered around the 9mm cartridge length. This design optimizes the action and grip dimensions for 9mm while retaining a single-action 1911 operating system and controls.
Its 4 inch stainless steel barrel is match-grade, fully ramped, bull profile, and bushingless, paired with a flat-wire recoil spring and a full-length guide rod for smooth cycling. The slide is forged stainless steel with an OD Green finish, ball-cut profile, rear cocking serrations, and a lowered and flared ejection port.
The forged aluminum-alloy frame wears a Flat Dark Earth finish and the Concealed Carry Contour bobtailed/rounded heel to reduce printing. Posi-Lock dimple texturing on the front strap and mainspring housing, an undercut trigger guard, beveled magazine well, and black textured G10 grip panels enhance control.
Sight picture is fast and clear with a fiber-optic (red/orange) front and a low-profile 2-dot (white) rear. A skeletonized, lightened trigger and a skeletonized Commander-style hammer complement the single-action system, along with a grip safety and manual thumb safety.
