What’s Included
- Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 .357 Magnum revolver (5-inch)
- Aftermarket Pachmayr rubber target-style grips (installed)
The Model 27-2 represents the three-screw frame era of S&W’s premium .357 Magnum line, with N-frame construction and a six-shot fluted cylinder. The N-prefix serial range places this example in the 1970–1972 production window, aligning with the features and markings of the period.
The 5-inch barrel configuration is historically desirable on the Model 27, balancing sight radius and handling. This gun includes a tapered barrel with a short ejector shroud, a checkered/serrated topstrap and barrel rib for glare reduction, and S&W’s micrometer-adjustable rear sight matched to a ramped, serrated front sight.
Finished in high-polish blue, the revolver uses steel throughout the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The hammer and trigger show color case-hardening, and user-oriented controls include a checkered cylinder release latch and a knurled ejector rod tip for positive operation.
Factory rollmarks are present: “SMITH & WESSON” on the left side of the barrel, “S.&W. .357 MAGNUM” on the right, and the right frame legend “MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS.” The yoke cut is marked “MOD. 27-2.” Aftermarket Pachmayr rubber target-style grips provide a secure, hand-filling hold.
