Built in the 1960s–1980s era and discontinued in the mid-1980s, it features adjustable S&W micrometer sights, checkered walnut Magna stocks, and matching N-prefix serials on the butt and yoke cut. Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.
There are some scratches and blemishes on the finish. Minor finish loss is present near the front of the barrel. The bore is clean and shiny.

This Model 28-2 is an N-frame, square-butt revolver with a six-shot fluted cylinder and a 6-inch heavy barrel. The barrel is pinned and paired with a short ejector-rod shroud, delivering the sturdy, service-oriented configuration the Highway Patrolman series is known for. It operates in double-action/single-action and is chambered in .357 Magnum.
Sighting is handled by a serrated ramp front sight and an adjustable S&W micrometer rear sight. The top surfaces are matte to reduce glare, complementing the polished blue overall finish. Ergonomic touches include a serrated backstrap, a service-width serrated trigger, and a checkered cylinder-release latch.
The exposed hammer shows a color case-hardened finish with a checkered spur for positive control. Stocks are checkered walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions, fitting the square-butt frame and maintaining period-correct presentation.
Markings are consistent with factory application: S&W crest on the left sideplate, Made in U.S.A. legend on the right side of the frame, SMITH & WESSON on the left side of the barrel, .357 MAGNUM on the right side of the barrel, and MOD. 28-2 stamped in the yoke cut. This USA-made revolver falls within the Highway Patrolman series timeline of the 1960s–1980s and was discontinued in the mid-1980s. It has matching N-prefix serial numbers on the butt and yoke cut.
