The AM-15 uses a semi-automatic, direct-impingement system with a flat-top upper that features a Picatinny rail, forward assist, ejection-port cover, and shell deflector. The AR-15 7-lug bolt head, standard charging handle, and single-stage curved trigger provide a familiar, proven operating setup.
The 16-inch 4150 CMV barrel is nitrided and threaded 1/2x28, fitted with an A2-style flash hider. Its 1:8 twist supports a wide range of 5.56 NATO projectile weights. A low-profile, set-screw gas block sits under a free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard with anti-rotation tabs for solid accessory mounting.
Both upper and lower receivers are forged from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in Type III hard-coat anodized black. Controls include a manual safety and standard-latch charging handle. The rifle accepts STANAG magazines and has a 30+1 capacity.
Magpul furniture includes an adjustable carbine stock and a Magpul pistol grip. Length of pull is 12.5 inches. Unbranded flip-up iron sights, front and rear, are installed for immediate use.
The lower is marked "ANDERSON MANUFACTURING – HEBRON, KY – AM-15 – MULTI CAL." Anderson’s brand was discontinued in July 2025 following Ruger’s acquisition, a noteworthy detail for those tracking company lineage and product availability.
