Built as a closed-bolt, straight-blowback design, the TEC-DC9 offers simple, durable operation in a full-size format. It feeds from a detachable box magazine and ejects to the right. Capacity is 30+1 rounds in 9mm Luger.
The construction pairs a tubular steel upper receiver with a one-piece molded polymer lower that integrates the grip and magwell. The receiver is roll-marked: "INTRATEC MIAMI FL. 9MM LUGER MOD: TEC-DC9 PATENTS PENDING."
The 5-inch barrel has external threads and is covered by a ventilated shroud. Fixed iron sights consist of a bent-tab front blade and a fixed rear notch in the end cap. Top-mounted sling loops are fitted front and rear.
Controls include a top-mounted charging handle with a push-in manual safety integrated into the handle. The original factory hard case is included; its closure clips are worn and may struggle to remain closed. Produced circa 1990–1994 and later succeeded by the AB-10, the DC-9 retains its pre-ban configuration and Miami, USA origin.
