The KSG uses a bullpup layout to keep the 18.5 in barrel within a compact 26.1 in overall length. Bottom ejection routes spent shells downward. The unloaded weight is 6.9 lb, giving it a solid yet manageable feel.
Dual under-barrel magazine tubes are user-selectable via a manual selector. Capacity is 6+6+1 with 3 in shells and 7+7+1 with 2-3/4 in shells. The chamber is 3 in, and the barrel features a fixed cylinder bore.
Construction pairs a hardened steel receiver and steel barrel with a glass-reinforced polymer housing. The stock includes a rubber buttpad, and the textured polymer pistol grip provides secure purchase. Length of pull is 13.0 in.
