What’s Included
- Spanish Mauser Model 1916 short rifle (7x57mm)
This short rifle uses the small-ring 1893-type Mauser action with a left-side thumb cut, charger-clip guide, and gas-escape port. It retains the classic Mauser claw extractor and a straight bolt handle with a round knob, along with a flag safety. The action feeds from an internal 5-round box magazine with a hinged floorplate.
The stock is a two-band full-length hardwood configuration with a side sling slot and metal crossbar. A short top handguard covers the upper barrel section, and a lower band sling swivel is present. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches, providing a traditional service-rifle fit.
Sights are iron: a tangent/ladder rear sight graduated in meters with 100 m increments, paired with a front blade protected by a hoop guard. The blued carbon-steel receiver and barrel reflect the period Spanish manufacture, with this example believed to be from Fábrica de Armas de Oviedo. The barrel length is 21.75 inches, balancing handling and sight radius in the short-rifle format.
Markings include the left receiver wall marked "OT-509" and a floorplate stamped "8721." These details, along with the Mauser 1916 pattern features and 7x57mm chambering, align with Spanish service configuration. Overall, it presents as a collectible Spanish Mauser short rifle with core military features intact.
