Built by Remington for the French during WWI, this MLE 1907-15 Berthier carries contract markings on the receiver: "Remington MLE 1907-15" and "RAC 1907-15." It is chambered in 8mm Lebel and uses the Berthier en-bloc clip–fed internal magazine with a 3-round capacity.
The rifle has been sporterized with a shortened 19-inch carbon steel barrel and a trimmed fore-end. The original handguard and nose cap/bayonet fittings were removed during the conversion, giving the rifle a lighter, handier profile while retaining the front sling ring on the barrel band and the under-butt swivel.
The custom wood stock adds character and function. It features hand-cut checkering, decorative light-colored metal leaf inlays, and an oval light-colored inlay plate on the stock belly. An added small wood pistol-grip extension improves purchase, and a ventilated WHITE LINE recoil pad with spacer provides a 14.25-inch length of pull.
Iron sights include a fixed front with protective ears and a tangent rear ladder sight with a knurled slider. The action retains the round bolt knob and a knurled rear cocking piece, consistent with the Berthier pattern.
As configured, this U.S.-made WWI-era Remington Berthier blends contract history with period sporterization, with a bright, clean bore and functional upgrades that make it stand out among customized examples.
