The XD-S 3.3 configuration is built around a hammer-forged, Melonite-treated 3.3-inch barrel with a 1:16 twist, fitted to a forged steel slide finished in black Melonite. A factory FDE polymer frame keeps weight around 21.5 oz unloaded. Overall length measures 6.3 inches, height is 4.4 inches with the flush magazine, and the width is approximately 0.9–1.0 inch.
This striker-fired pistol uses a dual captive recoil spring system with a full-length guide rod to support reliable cycling in a compact format. The single-stack magazine architecture provides a nominal capacity of 5+1 in .45 ACP.
Controls and safety features include an ambidextrous magazine release, grip safety, trigger safety, and a striker block. A loaded chamber indicator provides a quick visual/tactile check of chamber status.
Sight configuration consists of a red fiber-optic front and a steel rear with two white dots, both dovetailed, with a serrated rear sight face to reduce glare. The slide includes rear serrations for confident manipulation, and the dustcover incorporates a single-slot Picatinny accessory rail.
