The revolver is built on Ruger’s one-piece investment-cast stainless-steel frame with no sideplate and coil-spring lockwork. It uses a left-side push-button cylinder latch and a knurled ejector rod for positive control during loading and unloading.

This Security-Six operates in double-action/single-action and incorporates a transfer-bar safety. It also includes a smooth trigger and a checkered hammer spur for confident handling.
