This Pre-Model 10 is a classic fixed-sight service revolver from the early C-prefix era, aligning it to the 1950–1951 timeframe. It uses the desirable 5-screw K-frame pattern with a 4-inch tapered, pinned barrel and an unshrouded ejector rod. The revolver retains the traditional pinned half-moon ramped front sight paired with a top-strap rear notch.
Construction is all carbon steel with a factory blued finish, complemented by a case-hardened, smooth trigger and an exposed, case-hardened hammer with a checkered spur. A hammer block safety is present, and the action operates in double-action/single-action mode with a six-round .38 Special cylinder.
The stocks are walnut Magna service grips with checkering, a diamond around the escutcheon, and S&W medallions. Markings include the S&W trademark crest and the legend "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS."
Additional period-correct details include the pinned barrel and pinned front sight. The revolver bears a C-prefix serial with a matching cylinder serial, consistent with postwar Military & Police production.
