What’s Included
- Colt Official Police .38 Special revolver (1943 manufacture)
This Official Police is a medium Colt E-frame, fixed-sight service revolver chambered in .38 Special with a double-action/single-action mechanism. It uses a swing-out six-shot fluted cylinder and an unshrouded ejector rod with a knurled tip for positive extraction.
The 4 inch barrel is paired with fixed iron sights: a half-moon blade front sight and a U-notch groove milled into the topstrap. This straightforward sighting setup reflects the model's service intent and period configuration.
Construction is all carbon steel with a blued finish on the frame and barrel. The square-butt stocks are checkered walnut and set with Colt medallions, giving a secure hold and the correct factory look for the era. Colt's Rampant Colt logo is stamped on the left side of the frame.
Factory rollmarks include the left-side barrel legend 'COLT OFFICIAL POLICE .38' and a top address with patent dates. Built in the United States in 1943, this WWII-era example incorporates Colt's Positive Lock safety system within its DA/SA action.
