Built at Tula Arsenal in 1950, this SKS follows the classic Russian pattern and is chambered in 7.62x39. It uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system and feeds from a fixed internal 10-round box magazine loaded via stripper clips.
The rifle retains a 20.5 inch barrel with an unthreaded muzzle. The receiver and major components wear a blued finish, paired with a hardwood stock in shellac showing the traditional grasping groove and a steel buttplate with trapdoor. A wooden upper handguard covers the gas tube.
Sighting is via a hooded front post and a tangent rear sight with range graduations. A folding under-barrel blade bayonet is integral to the front sight and bayonet lug assembly. The rifle includes its standard cleaning rod under the barrel and uses a left-side sling arrangement with a rear butt swivel and a front barrel-band loop.
Markings include the Tula arsenal star on the receiver cover and a Tula star cartouche on the buttstock. The receiver bears a "CCCP" marking, and the rifle is import-marked "C.D.I. SWAN, VT" with "MADE IN RUSSIA" present. The bolt and bolt carrier are in the white.
