Produced circa 1936–1940 in Ilion, New York, the Model 341 Sportmaster was designed by Crawford C. Loomis, with approximately 131,604 made. This example has a blued steel receiver and a 24 in steel barrel fitted to a one-piece hardwood stock with a semi-pistol grip and a black checkered hard-rubber buttplate bearing the Remington logo.
Chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle, the Model 341 uses Remington's patented lifter that feeds each cartridge length without the bullet nose striking the chamber mouth. It employs an under-barrel tubular magazine with a removable inner magazine tube featuring a knurled cap, an inspection slot, and a brass follower. Ejection is to the right, and capacity is listed at 18 rounds.
Sighting equipment includes open sights with a front blade and a step-elevator rear. The rifle is also fitted with a Lyman externally adjustable mount/base marked with U.S. Pat. No. 2,018,961, and a Weaver scope is installed on that mount.
Additional features include a Mauser-type safety and period-correct markings such as "REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A." with U.S. patent numbers, "THE SPORTMASTER TRADE MARK - MODEL 341," and the caliber designation ".22 SHORT, LONG OR LONG RIFLE."
