Polygonal rifling supports a clean, efficient bore profile. Suppressor-height iron sights provide a clear sight picture when used with muzzle devices.
The pistol operates in DA/SA with a hammer-fired, recoil-operated system. Controls include a paddle-style magazine release and a frame-mounted safety/decocker for confident handling. Capacity is 12+1, and four steel magazines are included.
The polymer frame wears an olive drab green finish with aggressive molded texturing and a lanyard provision. The slide carries a matte black finish. Up front is the proprietary HK LAM interface rail (non-Picatinny), purpose-built for the Mark 23's intended accessories of its era.
Proofs and markings include DE country code and CIP N nitro proof, along with the HKI Columbus, GA import mark. This example has matching serial numbers on the slide, frame, and factory case label, aligning the pistol and its case as a set.
