Built as part of Colt's 2nd Generation Blackpowder Series F-Series, this revolver aligns with the documented F-Series serial range and is distinguished from later Signature Series guns by the absence of the Sam Colt backstrap signature. Major components are serial-matched in the correct locations, with the last four digits present on the backstrap, and no import or proof marks are observed.
It carries the correct historical markings: the barrel address reads "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" and the frame is marked "PAT. SEPT. 10th 1850." The open-top frame, cap-and-ball single-action lockwork, and six-shot cylinder adhere to the 1860 Army pattern while reflecting Colt's 2nd Generation manufacture.
Materials and finishes are period appropriate: a blued steel barrel and cylinder; color case-hardened steel frame, hammer, and loading lever; brass trigger guard; blued steel backstrap; and a one-piece smooth walnut grip. Fixed sights consist of a front blade paired with a hammer-notch rear.
The revolver is chambered in .44 caliber with an 8 inch barrel and six-round capacity. The included Colt factory box with labeled end panel and original literature add to the completeness of this example. The bore condition is excellent, with a clean, mirror finish and sharp rifling.
