Converted to .308 Winchester (7.62×51mm), this MAS 36 maintains its original internal 5-round magazine and charger/stripper-clip guide, yielding a practical 5+1 capacity. The receiver is clearly marked ".308," confirming the caliber change.
Sighting is handled by a hooded front post and an aperture ladder rear sight with a sliding elevation cursor. The forward-bent bolt handle aids manipulation while preserving the rifle’s recognizable profile. Length of pull measures 12.25 in.
The rifle wears a matte gray phosphate/parkerized finish over a hardwood stock and upper handguard. The stock is full-length with a grasping groove and two barrel bands, complemented by sling swivels (front band swivel and a rear buttstock bar). A stacking hook is located at the right of the nose cap.
An integral under-barrel cruciform spike bayonet with a muzzle-end release collar remains in place. Markings include a "FRANCE" import stamp and other small proofs (illegible). Component markings indicate a mismatched trigger guard/floorplate.
