The Handi-Rifle is a break-action, single-shot design with an external hammer and a single-action trigger. It uses a transfer-bar safety system and holds one round. This example is chambered in .223 Rem, a versatile cartridge for target work and varmint applications.
The 22-inch steel barrel is unthreaded with a plain crown and wears a barrel-top multi-slot scope rail. With the rail mounted to the barrel, optic zero is retained with this barrel assembly. This configuration ships without iron sights.
The receiver and barrel are finished in blued steel. The hardwood stock and matching fore-end have a straight comb and a ventilated rubber recoil pad with a white line spacer. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the length of pull measures 14.5 inches.
Markings include a barrel rollmark "HANDI RIFLE CAL .223 REM" and a receiver mark "NEW ENGLAND FIREARMS, GARDNER, MA U.S.A., U.S. PAT. NO. 3,988,848." Made in the USA, this receiver was factory fitted to this barrel, with the Handi-Rifle system allowing additional fitted barrels to be added by the manufacturer.
