This Match Target Competition HBAR pairs Colt's proven AR-15 direct-impingement system with a flat-top upper that provides a continuous Picatinny rail for mounting as needed. The A2 front sight base is pinned in place and this example is built without a bayonet lug. A fixed, multi-port compensator/muzzle brake is installed for controlled muzzle behavior.
The 20 inch HBAR is stamped "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR," indicating Colt manufacture, magnetic particle inspection, 5.56 NATO chambering, and a 1:9 twist rate suited to a broad range of bullet weights. The heavy-profile barrel and free-floated setup are configured to enhance consistency.
Furniture includes a fixed A2 stock with trap-door buttplate and rear sling loop, plus an A2 pistol grip. The free-float tubular fore-end has ventilation ports and an integral sling stud, with an adjustable bipod attached. A large-head two-screw Colt pattern front pivot pin is fitted.
The receivers are aluminum alloy with a hard-anodized matte finish. The rifle uses a manual safety selector, accepts AR-15/STANAG magazines, and has a 30+1 capacity. Year of manufacture is 2008, and it was made in the United States.
