The SPAS-12 uses a selectable dual-mode operating system that allows gas-operated semi-automatic fire or manual pump action via the A/M selector on the fore-end. A rotating multi-lug bolt head supports reliable lock-up, and a trigger-guard safety lever provides straightforward on-gun control.
A factory folding skeleton steel stock with integral hook hinges at the receiver and includes lightening holes. The pistol grip is polymer with molded grooves, and the length of pull measures 13 inches.
The polymer ventilated handguard doubles as a heat shield and integrates a ribbed pump section for manual operation. A fixed front sight tower, cylindrical muzzle device with a knurled locking collar and short slots, and a full-length magazine tube with a front sling loop round out the configuration.
