The stainless steel construction includes the frame, cylinder, and one-piece barrel, all finished in a semi-bright stainless sheen. The barrel is crowned and features a ventilated rib and full underlug for balanced handling. The six-shot fluted cylinder is chambered in .357 Magnum.
Colt strengthened the top strap with approximately 30% more steel and revised the lockwork compared to earlier-generation Pythons. The revolver operates in double-action/single-action and uses an exposed hammer with a serrated spur. The smooth-face trigger has three shallow grooves.
Sights are fully adjustable iron sights with a user-interchangeable orange-ramp front blade and a fully adjustable rear. The barrel uses six-groove rifling with a 1:14 left-hand twist for .357 Magnum projectiles.
