Product Description

    Marlin Model 336C .30-30 Lever-Action Carbine, 20" Micro-Groove Barrel, 6+1, 1979 North Haven Production

This 1979 Marlin Model 336C carbine is a North Haven, Connecticut build with classic features collectors and hunters recognize. It pairs a 20" round steel barrel with Micro-Groove rifling, a blued steel receiver, and a side-eject, solid-top design drilled and tapped with four top holes. The carbine configuration includes a full-length tubular magazine rated at 6+1 and a hardwood pistol-grip stock, with period details like the gold-colored trigger and pre–cross-bolt safety setup.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Fair - Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.

Bore Rifling: Fair Rifling - Worn rifling, slight loss of definition.

The firearm is in solid functional shape. There are scratches and blemishes present. The rear sight elevator is not present, so the rear sight cannot be adjusted. Rust and pitting are present.

    What's Included

    • Offset scope rings (unbranded), not installed

The Model 336C is the carbine variant of Marlin's enduring lever-action line, chambered here in .30-30 with a 20" round steel barrel. This example uses Marlin's Micro-Groove rifling and is roll-marked accordingly, matching the period-correct configuration for 1979 production.

The receiver is a blued, side-eject, solid-top design that is drilled and tapped with four top holes. This layout supports straightforward mounting solutions while preserving the robust, enclosed top profile associated with the 336 series.

Sighting equipment consists of a hooded ramp front sight paired with an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. The carbine carries a full-length tubular magazine with two barrel bands and a stated 6+1 capacity in .30-30.

Controls and safety features are consistent with its pre–cross-bolt safety era, using a half-cock hammer. The trigger is gold-colored, another hallmark detail seen on many period 336C carbines.

The hardwood stock features a pistol-grip profile with a fluted comb and smooth, uncheckered surfaces. It is outfitted with sling swivel studs, a black plastic grip cap with white-line spacer, and a black checkered hard buttplate with a white-line spacer. Length of pull measures 13.5".
