This Platypus 17 is a full-size, single-action 9mm built on a 1911-style platform and configured to use Glock 17-pattern double-stack magazines. The result is modern 17+1 capacity with familiar 1911 ergonomics and controls.
The frame is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum for strength-to-weight efficiency, while the slide is carbon steel. Practical enhancements include front and rear slide serrations and a lowered/flared ejection port for reliable extraction. The square trigger guard and integral flared magwell support fast, consistent indexing and reloads.
Controls and contact surfaces are purposefully executed: a skeletonized trigger and skeletonized rowel hammer, thumb safety and grip safety, and aggressive hex-style grip texture for traction. An integrated accessory rail on the dust cover provides mounting space for a light. Sighting is quick and clear with a green fiber-optic front and a fixed rear notch.
