The High Grade (Grade V) trim showcases scroll engraving with gold-inlaid game scenes on a blued steel receiver: three flying ducks on the right and two pointers with an upland bird on the left. This is factory engraving, executed to a high standard consistent with the series. The result is a visually distinctive Model 42 that reflects Browning’s top presentation level for this platform.
Made in Japan by Miroku, this limited-edition run was produced circa 1991–1993 as a faithful reproduction of the Winchester Model 42. The series is associated with the NZ982 suffix serial format and incorporates period-correct design elements throughout. “Made in Japan” markings confirm origin.
Functionally, it is a .410 bore pump-action shotgun with a 26 inch steel barrel, ventilated rib, and a fixed FULL choke. It is chambered for both 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch shells, uses an under-barrel tubular magazine with a 5+1 capacity, and carries a silver front bead on the rib. A rib extension over the receiver provides a continuous sighting plane.
The takedown construction with an alignment arrow allows easy separation of the barrel and magazine assembly from the receiver. Steel receiver and barrel components wear a polished blued finish that complements the High Grade presentation.
The walnut furniture is finished in a high-gloss sheen with cut checkering. A pistol-grip stock, beavertail forend, and a steel buttplate provide a classic look and solid handling. Length of pull is 14.0 inches, giving this .410 a balanced feel and traditional stock dimensions.
