Built on the proven 1911 platform, the Night Commander delivers a compact commander-length format with a 4.25-inch barrel and single-action operation. The Series 80 firing pin block adds an additional internal safety while preserving a crisp 1911 trigger feel.
Sight picture and handling are purpose-driven, with Novak low-mount tritium 3-dot sights (rear marked "NOVAK") and a dovetailed tritium front. The slide is cut with front and rear cocking serrations and a lowered, flared ejection port for reliable extraction.
The pistol uses Colt’s factory dual recoil spring system with a standard short guide rod and GI-style plug. Control features include an extended left-side thumb safety, beavertail grip safety, a flat serrated mainspring housing, a skeletonized commander-style hammer, and a skeletonized 3-hole trigger.
Materials and finish are distinctive and durable: an aluminum-alloy frame with black Cerakote pairs with a blued carbon-steel slide for a two-tone look, complemented by matte silver small controls and black checkered synthetic grips with the molded "COLT" logo. Capacity is 7+1 with the included magazine. Made in the USA, this pistol bears the Colt model number O4840NC, and the factory case label matches the pistol’s serial.
