Built in the Airweight series, this Model 637-2 pairs an aluminum alloy frame with stainless steel barrel and cylinder for a lightweight, corrosion-resistant setup. The compact J-frame size and short 1.875 in barrel keep the profile trim while maintaining +P-rated chambering in .38 Special.
This revolver uses a swing-out cylinder design and is configured with a 5-shot cylinder (5 charge holes visible). The sights are fixed and integral, with an integral front blade and an integral rear notch in the topstrap for a clean, snag-minimized layout.
Controls and handling are classic J-frame, with an exposed hammer with spur and SA/DA action. The black synthetic/rubber-style grip is marked "Crimson Trace" and includes an S&W medallion.
Factory-style markings are present throughout, including "SPFLD, MA S&W U.S.A." on the frame, the S&W circular trademark emblem, and the model designation "637-2" on the yoke/frame cut. The serial marking observed is in the DBD prefix range.
