This is the Pro Series C.O.R.E. version of the M&P40L, combining the 5" barrel and long-slide format with a C.O.R.E. slide that uses a removable optics plate area retained by two screws. The slide is finished in black and includes the right-side warning marking: "CAUTION—CAPABLE OF FIRING WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED".
The pistol uses a black polymer frame with a textured polymer grip and interchangeable backstrap system to tune fit. It also includes a true accessory rail on the frame.
Controls and safety features include a reversible-style magazine release and a trigger safety with an integrated safety lever in the trigger. Sighting is via iron sights with a white dot front and a two white dot rear.
