This Kel-Tec PLR-16 is a USA-made, rifle-caliber semi-automatic pistol chambered in 5.56mm NATO with a 9.2 in threaded barrel (1/2-28). It is set up with a Midwest Industries railed handguard/forend and an angled foregrip attached to the bottom rail. The polymer clamshell-style receiver is marked "PLR-16 5.56mm / KEL-TEC CNC INC / COCOA FL / MADE IN USA" with a molded KEL-TEC logo.

The PLR-16 uses a short-stroke gas piston action and feeds from M-16/AR-15 type magazines. This example includes two polymer magazines marked "5.56 x 45" and "www.makoindustries.com," along with a short steel box magazine.
Up top, the pistol has an integrated, top-mounted Picatinny-style rail and iron sights, including a flip-up style front sight unit positioned at or near the forward end of the top rail. The cross-bolt safety features a red ring indicator for quick visual confirmation.
The Midwest Industries railed handguard/forend is marked "MIDWEST INDUSTRIES INC" and "Made in U.S.A" and shows T-mark/indexing marks (including R2/R4/R6/R8/R10/R12 and L2/L4/L6/L8/L10/L12). The angled foregrip is attached to the bottom rail, providing a defined support-hand indexing point.
Construction includes a glass-reinforced Zytel polymer frame and a polymer clamshell-style receiver with multiple visible fasteners. The barrel is threaded 1/2-28, supporting compatible muzzle devices.
