The Challenger II platform uses a simple blowback action with a thumb safety and a 10+1 capacity. This example’s serial marking decodes to 1980 production, with rollmarks indicating Browning Arms Company, Morgan, Utah & Montreal, P.Q., Canada, and "Made in U.S.A." manufacture. The configuration aligns with the U.S.-made run that followed Browning’s Belgian rimfire series.
The 6.75 in tapered barrel pairs with six-groove, right-hand rifling and a 9 1/8 in sight radius. Sighting is via a 1/8 in wide ramped front and a square-notch rear that adjusts for elevation by screw and can be drifted for windage. This setup offers precise, repeatable adjustments using the factory iron sights.
Exterior features include a polished blued slide with distinctive long diagonal grasping grooves and a matte-finished frame. The two-piece hardwood grip panels carry inlaid Browning "B" medallions, and the pistol retains the gold-colored trigger characteristic of this series.
Field-stripping and maintenance follow the barrel-to-frame mounting screw takedown system used on this model. Two 8-round detachable steel magazines are included.
