Built on an aluminum-alloy frame, the Model 12-2 Airweight is a compact revolver designed around reduced weight while keeping the familiar Smith & Wesson DA/SA format and exposed hammer. This example is identified by the "MOD. 12-2" yoke cut marking and "AIRWEIGHT" barrel marking.
The 2-inch barrel and fixed sight setup keep the profile simple and compact. The front sight is a serrated ramp-style blade, and the rear sight is a top-strap notch.
This revolver uses a 6-chamber fluted swing-out cylinder with a knurled ejector rod tip. The left side of the frame shows the S&W circular trademark/logo, and the right-side frame address block includes "MADE IN U.S.A." and "SPRINGFIELD, MASS."
It is fitted with checkered wood grips with S&W round medallions and a single grip screw. The finish is described as dark blued/black.
