The PT-22 uses a simple blowback action with a double-action-only trigger and an external hammer with a spur. A frame-mounted thumb safety with a red fire index dot and a magazine disconnect safety provide clear, straightforward control of the pistol’s status.
The tip-up barrel design hinges at the muzzle and is operated by a left-side latch, enabling direct chamber access. The barrel length is approximately 2.8", and the standard capacity is 8+1 rounds of .22 LR.
Construction pairs a blued steel slide with rear slide serrations and a matte-black aluminum-alloy frame. A beavertail-style frame tang and wood grip panels with Taurus medallions complete the metal-frame configuration of this model.
Controls are set up for easy handling, including a left-side magazine release button located behind the trigger guard. Fixed, integral sights consist of an integral front blade and rear notch. Slide rollmarks read "TAURUS PT-22 CAL .22 LR" and "TAURUS INT. MFG. INC.
