The SIG 516 Patrol combines the familiar AR-15 control layout with a short-stroke gas-piston system. Visible AR-pattern controls include the forward assist, ejection-port cover, bolt catch, and a selector lever with pictogram/icon markings.
This rifle is set up with a flat-top Picatinny top rail and a free-floated-style quad Picatinny handguard made of metal. The handguard includes oval ventilation cutouts and rail position/index markings, providing multiple mounting positions along the four rail faces.
Factory-style flip-up iron sights are present, including a flip-up front sight and a flip-up rear sight marked "PUSH". The stock is a collapsible, adjustable design, and the rifle uses an AR-style polymer pistol grip.
