The 92X Compact FR with Rail pairs Beretta's recoil-operated, locked-breech locking-block system with a compact slide and 4.25 in barrel. The DA/SA action features a spurred hammer, a left-side push-button magazine release, and an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker with a firing pin block.
The open-top, non-RDO slide has rear serrations and wears a durable Bruniton finish that matches the aluminum alloy frame. Dovetailed sights include a front blade with a red/orange dot and a black serrated rear, delivering a 5.75 in sight radius.
Ergonomics are anchored by the Vertec-style straight backstrap with frontstrap and backstrap checkering for a secure hold. Thin textured polymer grip panels with Beretta medallions keep the profile compact, and a lanyard loop is fitted at the heel.
An integral MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail on the dust cover supports accessory mounting. Capacity is 13+1 with the included three steel double-stack magazines. This model is the U.S.-made J92CR921 configuration.
