    Colt U.S. Army Model 1917 New Service .45 ACP DA/SA Revolver 5.5 Inch, 6rd (1919)

    This Colt U.S. Army Model 1917 is a New Service-pattern revolver chambered in .45 ACP, manufactured in 1919 and marked for U.S. military service. It features a 6-shot swing-out fluted cylinder, a matte gray finish, and fixed sights with a blade front and rear notch in the top strap. Notable markings include the "U.S.

    ARMY MODEL 1917" marking on the butt/backstrap with a government inventory number, along with "COLT D.A. 45" on the barrel, "UNITED STATES" on the underside of the barrel, and the rampant Colt emblem on the frame/sideplate.

    CONDITION

    Overall Condition: Excellent condition, showing only faint signs of any prior use or handling.

    Built on Colt's New Service series, this full-size DA/SA revolver is configured for .45 ACP and described as using moon clips for extraction and loading. The included full-moon clip is shown holding cartridges (ammo not included).

    This example is set up with fixed sights, using a blade front sight and a rear notch cut into the top strap. The revolver uses a swing-out, 6-shot fluted cylinder and an ejector rod with a knurled tip.

    Military and factory markings are a key part of what defines this Model 1917. The butt/backstrap is marked "U.S. ARMY MODEL 1917" with a government inventory number. The barrel is marked "COLT D.A. 45" and the underside is marked "UNITED STATES." Additional details include the rampant Colt emblem on the frame/sideplate and a small "L" stamp adjacent to the serial in the crane cut.
