This rifle represents the original BAR generation, pre-Mark II, with 1981 production indicated by the serial coding. It is a long-action .270 Winchester configuration with a 22" barrel and a 3+1 capacity.
The action is a gas-operated system with a rotating multi-lug bolt, complemented by a left-side bolt release. The receiver is drilled and tapped for optics, and it comes fitted with 1-inch rings and two-piece bases.
Metalwork shows a polished blued finish on both the barrel and receiver. The ramped front sight is present. Barrel markings include "BAR CALIBER .270 ONLY" and "BROWNING PATENTS."
The Grade I walnut stock has a gloss finish with bordered point-pattern checkering, a straight comb, and a pistol grip. It includes a schnabel fore-end and sling swivel studs. Length of pull measures 13.75".
