The KP89 "K" variant pairs a matte stainless slide with a matte gray hard-coat anodized aluminum alloy frame for a durable two-tone finish. A one-piece wraparound synthetic grip with Ruger medallion provides a secure hold on the full-size frame.
Its operating system is a short-recoil, locked-breech Browning-type tilting barrel. An external extractor provides reliable extraction with right-side ejection, and the 4.5 in barrel delivers full-size sight radius and velocity.
The pistol uses a DA/SA trigger system and an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker with a red "fire" indicator for clear status. A spurred external hammer and a left-side magazine release round out the controls, and a lanyard loop at the grip heel adds carry versatility.
Sights are a fixed 3-dot arrangement with a drift-adjustable rear for windage. Capacity is 15+1 with standard double-stack magazines. This example is Ruger mfg part number KP89 and was made in the United States in 1994.
