The original Ruger LCP (not LCP II) offers a slim, micro-size footprint with an unloaded weight of about 9.6 oz, an overall length of 5.16 inches, and a width of 0.82 inches. The slide and barrel are alloy steel with a black-oxide/blued finish, paired to a black glass-filled nylon frame. Fixed, non-dovetailed integral sights keep the top end low-profile and snag-resistant.
This hammer-fired, double-action-only design uses an internal hammer and a smooth curved DAO trigger with no trigger-safety blade. A push-button magazine release manages the single-stack steel magazine. A manual slide stop is present; it does not automatically lock the slide open on an empty magazine.
Chambering is .380 Auto with a 2.75 inch barrel and a 6+1 capacity. The chamber/ejection port is marked ".380 AUTO," and the slide carries the "RUGER - PRESCOTT, AZ - USA" legend. A loaded chamber viewport at the rear of the ejection port provides a quick visual check.
This pistol was manufactured in 2016. The serial prefix 371 indicates the updated, post-recall hammer mechanism for this model series. A Hogue rubber grip sleeve is installed on the frame.
