The Model 915 is part of S&W’s cost-reduced 3rd-Generation Value Series, produced circa 1992–1994 with reports of a limited later run. It retains key 3rd-gen features while streamlining others, including the left-side-only safety/decocker with a round plug on the right side and the pre-Novak fixed-sight footprint.
Construction is durable and balanced: a matte blued slide with an external extractor and rear cocking serrations only, paired with an aluminum-alloy frame. The 4-inch stainless steel barrel supports the short-recoil, locked-breech DA/SA system, and the smooth, curved trigger and spurred hammer round out the fire-control setup.
Sighting is straightforward and highly visible, with a fixed front blade featuring a white dot and a fixed rear notch with two orange dots. These are the earlier, pre-Novak fixed sights used on this series.
The pistol ships with six steel double-stack magazines—three 17-round and three 15-round—compatible with S&W 59-series pistols. Some magazine bodies are marked "PATENT 5,386,657." The on-board capacity is 17+1 rounds of 9mm Luger.
Ergonomics are anchored by a one-piece wraparound textured black synthetic grip with molded Smith & Wesson script and S&W crest. This USA-made, full-size 9mm reflects the practical design and parts commonality that defined S&W’s 3rd-generation autos.
