The M&P22 Compact uses a single-action-only, internal-hammer, blowback-operated system with a fixed 3.6 inch steel barrel for dependable function. Its aluminum-alloy slide wears a black hard-coat anodized finish, and the polymer frame keeps weight to about 15.3 oz unloaded.
Controls are straightforward and protective: an ambidextrous thumb safety, a magazine disconnect, an internal lock, and a left-side magazine release. The hinged two-piece trigger and rear cocking serrations support consistent handling, and the external extractor aids reliable ejection.
Sight configuration includes a white-dot front blade and a two-dot rear sight that is screw-adjustable for both windage and elevation. An integrated 3-slot Picatinny-style accessory rail on the dust cover allows mounting compatible lights or accessories.
This compact model is made in the United States at S&W’s Springfield, Massachusetts facility and is distinct from the earlier Walther/Umarex-produced full-size M&P22. Capacity is 10+1, and this example includes one 10-round magazine.
