Built by Zbrojovka Brno in the 1930s for the Imperial Iranian (Pahlavi) contract, this Model 98/29 displays the national crest along with a Farsi receiver legend that includes "1317" and Brno factory markings. The barrel is importer-marked "CAI St Alb VT" with "8x57/M98" noted.
The rifle uses the Mauser 98 pattern action with controlled-round feed, cock-on-open operation, a straight bolt handle, external claw extractor, and a third safety lug. A three-position wing safety sits at the rear of the bolt for positive, familiar operation.
It retains a full-length, oil-finished hardwood stock with a straight wrist, left-side grasping groove, butt takedown disc, and a steel buttplate. The metal is blued, and the rifle features a long handguard, a bayonet-lug nose cap, side sling loops on both barrel bands, and a bottom sling swivel at the toe.
Sighting equipment includes a tangent rear sight with Farsi numerals and a protected front post with open-sided ears. The 29.13 in barrel and long sight radius complement the platform’s intended service role while maintaining period-correct configuration.
Feeding is via an internal 5-round staggered box magazine with stripper-clip loading and a hinged floorplate. Chambered in 8mm Mauser, this contract rifle pairs classic Mauser engineering with identifiable Persian markings and configuration.
