Patterned on the Remington 1858 top-strap frame, this reproduction uses a six-shot cylinder with percussion nipples installed and a 3" octagonal snub-nose barrel. The streamlined barrel profile omits the traditional loading lever for a compact carry and holster footprint.
The cylinder base pin is retained by a forward lever-latch under the barrel for quick removal. Sights consist of a dovetailed front blade that can be drifted for windage and a fixed rear notch in the topstrap, providing a simple, durable sight picture.
Construction is all-steel with a blued finish, complemented by a brass trigger guard and a color casehardened hammer. Checkered walnut grips offer a positive hold in a compact size that remains comfortable at approximately 8.68" overall length and about 2.0 lb.
The .44-caliber barrel uses seven-groove, left-hand 1:30 twist rifling for round ball or conical projectiles typical of cap-and-ball use. Markings include "F.LLI PIETTA MADE IN ITALY BLACK POWDER ONLY" along with Italian Gardone proof marks and the PN black powder proof.
This is the Taylor's & Company "1858 The Ace" configuration (MPN RB1/200034), a recent-release reproduction made in Italy that captures the handling of the classic Remington pattern in a compact, modern production package.
