Product Description

    Winchester Model 71 Deluxe .348 Win Lever-Action, 24 in Barrel, 1936 Pre-WWII, Top-Eject with Williams Side-Mount and Monoscope 4x32

Produced in 1936, this pre-WWII Winchester Model 71 Deluxe is chambered in .348 Winchester and configured with a 24-inch round barrel, a top-eject receiver, and an under-barrel tubular magazine with 4+1 capacity. Deluxe features include a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock, a semi-beavertail checkered forend with a steel nosecap, and a checkered steel shotgun-style buttplate. It carries a Williams side-mount base with rings and an installed Monoscope No. 4421 4x32 scope featuring a vertical post with a horizontal fine wire reticle.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Poor - Noticeable dirt, stains, significant corrosion or damage.

Bore Rifling: Poor Rifling - Rifling heavily worn or filled with fouling or debris.

Specific Condition Notes: The toe of the stock was cracked and later re-adhered. An aftermarket finish was applied to the buttstock at some point and the application is of poor quality. There are scratches, pitting, and finish wear present. Basic function testing indicates the action cycles and the controls operate.

    What’s Included

    • Scope: Monoscope 4x32 scope with fixed reticle, nitrogen gas filled (No. 4421), installed
    • Scope Mount: Williams side-mount base with rings (installed)

This Model 71 Deluxe highlights the .348 Winchester cartridge developed specifically for the platform. It uses a top-eject lever-action receiver paired with a 24-inch round steel barrel and an under-barrel tubular magazine of approximately three-quarter length for a 4+1 capacity.

Deluxe woodwork includes a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock and a semi-beavertail checkered forend with a fitted steel nosecap. A checkered steel shotgun-style buttplate is installed. Sling accommodations are built in, with an integral front sling loop on the forend and an inletted rear sling swivel base. Length of pull measures 13.25 inches.

Iron sights are in place: a ramped blade front on an integral ramp base and an open/elevator leaf rear. Optical equipment includes a Williams side-mount base with rings marked "WILLIAMS" and a Monoscope No. 4421 4x32 scope that is nitrogen gas filled and uses a vertical post with a horizontal fine wire reticle.

Markings include the Winchester Proof Steel barrel rollmark and the barrel address, "MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN." This example was manufactured in the United States in 1936, aligning it with the pre-WWII era of Model 71 production.
