Made in Egypt in 1957, this MAADI Hakim is the Egyptian-licensed adaptation of the Swedish AG-42B Ljungman rifle, chambered in 8mm Mauser. It features a direct-impingement gas system without a piston, a distinctive perforated cylindrical muzzle brake, and Arabic arsenal markings with a MAADI - EGYPT legend. The rifle retains period-correct details including an adjustable gas regulator and Arabic-graduated tangent rear sight, making it a noteworthy example for shooters and collectors.
The Hakim operates via a direct-impingement system with no gas piston, and includes an adjustable gas regulator at the front sight base to tune the rifle for ammunition and conditions. Its receiver-top dust and charging cover incorporates a stripper-clip guide for charger loading in addition to the detachable box magazine.
Feeding is from a 10-round Hakim-pattern detachable steel magazine, with a total capacity of 10+1. The rifle’s 25.1 in barrel terminates in the model’s recognizable perforated cylindrical muzzle brake, and a bayonet lug/interface is fitted at the front.
Sighting equipment consists of a hooded front post and a tangent rear sight with Arabic graduations. Bottom sling swivels are installed for carry. The length of pull measures 13.0 in.
Construction includes a steel receiver and hardwood furniture with an oil finish, a full-length upper handguard, and a steel buttplate. Markings include Arabic arsenal marks and the MAADI - EGYPT legend. The buttplate number is mismatched to the receiver serial.
