The Model 27-2 is a full-size N-frame revolver chambered in .357 Magnum with a six-shot fluted cylinder. This example features a 6 inch barrel and the hallmark pinned barrel and recessed chambers of its era, aligning with the N-prefix serial range used in the late 1970s.
Barrel and topstrap surfaces are checkered to reduce glare, and the barrel includes a rib and an ejector-rod shroud. The knurled ejector rod tip and color casehardened hammer and trigger reflect classic S&W fit and finish details. The action is double-action/single-action.
Sights are fully adjustable, with a ramped front sight and an S&W micrometer rear sight. The factory checkered wood target stocks with S&W medallions and a square-butt frame provide a traditional target-style grip profile.
The high-polish nickel finish is present on the frame, cylinder, and receiver, giving the revolver a bright, reflective presentation. Authentic rollmarks include "SMITH & WESSON" on the left side of the barrel, "S.&W. .357 MAGNUM" on the right, and "MADE IN U.S.A. / MARCAS REGISTRADAS / SMITH & WESSON / SPRINGFIELD, MASS." on the right side of the frame. The yoke cut is marked "MOD.
27-2" with assembly markings.
