Built on the SKS platform, this rifle retains the classic Chinese Type 56 pattern with the Jianshe Arsenal triangle 26 stamp and the receiver legend '五六式.' The import mark reads 'CJA SFLD MI,' indicating China Jing An.
The Paratrooper configuration uses a shortened 16-inch barrel with a small slotted muzzle brake fitted at the crown. It uses a 10-round fixed internal magazine that loads via stripper clips. The bayonet was deleted and the lug is neutered/absent. The cleaning rod is not present.
Furniture consists of a hardwood stock with a glossy finish and a matching wood gas-tube handguard. The stock has sling swivels and a 12.5-inch length of pull. Sights are traditional SKS iron sights with a hooded front post and a tangent leaf rear graduated to 1000 m.
The action is a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a tilting bolt. Notable build details include a polished in-the-white bolt and bolt carrier, a stamped trigger guard assembly, and a hinged magazine floorplate. Partial matching serials were observed on the bolt carrier and magazine floorplate.
