The IWI Carmel is a modern 5.56 NATO, short-stroke gas piston rifle built around ambidextrous controls and a rugged, free-floating 16 in cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel. This example features a reversible, non-reciprocating side charging handle, a two-position gas regulator with R/S settings, a full-length MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny top rail, and a right-side folding, six-position adjustable stock. It accepts STANAG/AR-pattern magazines and carries an MSRP of $1,799.

The short-stroke gas piston action and two-position R/S gas regulator provide a clean-running system tailored to varying conditions. The non-reciprocating, reversible side charging handle offers flexible setup for either side while keeping the shooter clear of moving parts.
The 16 in cold hammer forged, chrome-lined, free-floating steel barrel uses a 1:7 twist for 5.56 NATO. It is threaded and fitted with a multi-port muzzle brake/compensator. Barrel and receiver markings include the model marking “CARMEL 5.56×45” and the roll mark “5.56 N 1:7 CHF.”
The rifle’s polymer receiver and frame keep weight manageable at approximately 8 lb 2 oz. The right-side folding stock locks via a hinge and provides six-position length adjustment with a skeletonized butt. A B5 Systems pistol grip is installed from the factory.
Modularity is built in with a full-length MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny top rail and M-LOK handguard slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety, magazine release, and bolt catch. The rifle accepts STANAG/AR-pattern 5.56 magazines.
Proof and import markings include “IWI – ISRAEL / IWI US – MIDDLETOWN, PA,” reflecting manufacture and assembly ties to Israel and the USA. Overall length measures approximately 26.75 in folded to 37.25 in extended.
