The SL8-1 is a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston rifle with a rotating bolt, engineered for reliability and smooth operation. This example is the SL8-1 variant with light-gray furniture and a polymer receiver and handguard, imported by Heckler & Koch Inc., Sterling, VA, and marked "Heckler & Koch GmbH Made in Germany."
Its 20.8-inch heavy-profile barrel is cold hammer forged, chrome-lined in both bore and chamber, and free-floated with a recessed crown and unthreaded muzzle. The 1:7-inch twist supports modern .223 Rem loads well. A two-position selector provides straightforward operation.
A full-length Picatinny optics rail is installed for mounting optics. No iron sights are present on this sample. The polymer handguard includes two underside accessory screw bosses, and a clamp-on twin-leg folding bipod is installed for stable supported shooting.
